I just upgraded to AVRStudio 4.12 Build 528
and GCC 4.1.2
and AVRLibc 1.4.6

Programs running under older versions now won't compile.

avr-gcc.exe: _spawnv: no such file or directory.

I've seen some postings for this error and even a patch. But I don't understand it. It looks like a C-Program ? And an other Post changes a File in the library with a hex-Editor. Theses posts seems to be related to PreReleas versions.

So how should a dummy deal with this error?

Downgrading to an older version of WinAvr?
Any easy-to-use step-by-step manual to fix this error?

I think upgrading from Win98 to WinXP wont solve the problem?

It will you know - latest WinAVR works fine in Win2K and WinXp systems. spawn problems seem to have only afflicted Win98 and WinVista

(PS this is now the third thread I've read about this today - maybe worth tracking the other ones here on the same subject?)

Thanks
Any solution for Win98se?

Edit: Addendum:
to which versin of AVRStudio and gcc Compiler should I downgrade, to avoid this Error under Win98se?
Which is the latest version of AVRStudio which DOESN'T support WinAvr directly. And which is the corresponding version of WinAvr with it's own make-file. AVR gcc 3.4.5?
And where can I get these old Versions?

Edit2:
GREAAAAAT! Installed under WinXP and my testprogram worked.

Still looking for an answer at:
As I have a complete working source for gcc 3.4.5 (as the author states - and I believe him) I think it is easier for me, to install the old version instead migrating the source to gcc 4.1.2 ??
Specially as I am a beginner for WinAvr. First experiences with quick-C on PC and Assembler on AVR are done.
Where to get the older installation packages?
