Hi,
I have a project in mind that needs a tiny, hobbyist friendly chip that could use some processing power. My de facto for those situations is the ATTiny 85 since is cheap,is available in toddler grade packages(DIP and SOIC8) and has a bunch of goodies built in.
I was wondering if we'll ever see a Cortex M0+ beast in 8pin variant?
The one i could find is from another vendor but it didn't have a lot of stuff built in ,especially no ADC.
A great contestant should have in my opinion an ARM core (M0 or M0+) a decent clock speed(48Mhz) and at least the same nr of pheripherals as the Attiny85.An in built opamp on a separate line may help. This way i could do sound processing on a 8pin thingie.(simple filters or effects).Or use it for motor control.(better solution).
At a price point of 3$ should be ok?

Take a look at the SAMD10 maybe?  Its not in SOIC or DIP, much less DIP8, but its a nice ARM to work with.

There is very little in offering in DIP packages anymore.  Certainly not in the ARM world.  The largest you will probably find is TQFP.
