Do others experience the following behaviour in Atmel Studio 7.

If I want to do some device programming it seems I must always;

1st) Debug->Attach to target

2nd) Debug->Disable Debug wire and close.

Only after the above two steps am I able to execute->Tools\Device Programming\Read

Is this normal behavior?

Oddly when I first started playing with the AVR I didn't have the Atmel Ice and only used the USBTiny. Seems I did something to Atmel Studio back then that I can't program a chip now without the USBTiny. I removed the settings from Tools, etc. Still Atmel Studio 7 won't use the ICE device to program - only to debug, set fuses, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It's true that if you have been debugging so the chip is in DWEN mode then you have to switch out before you can do ISP.
