Phase correct vs Fast PWM usecases and applications

hello , if someone could explain the applications or the different use cases of FAST vs Phase correct pwm ? in ATmega32 datasheet 

" This high frequency makes the fast PWM mode well suited
for power regulation, rectification, and DAC applications."

but it doesn't mention phase correct applications .

Have you read Dean's tutorial article in the Tutorial forum?

 

The whole point about phase correct is that because the "high bit" is effectively in the middle of the cycle, not at one end that if you make a dramatic change in duty from one cycle to the next you don't get any messy glitches. This is of particular use when it comes to doing something like playing sound samples as you won't get nasty "clicks" in the sound. The price you pay is halving the steps available to vary the duty. Most PWM uses are fine with "Fast PWM".
