Also posted in Off-Topic to get more eyes...

A customer of our board house needs a legacy app rebuilt.  About 10-year-old app, and obsolete components and similar requires some minor tweaking and rebuild.  The original implementors are long gone.  The app was built with IAR for AVR, version 5.11.  (Peeking at the IAR rev history, I'm guessing any version might work.  Unless v. 5x to v. 6x had changes...)

Any 'Freaks with IAR license want to do a rebuild?  Probably a few back-and-forths before it is done.  Not charity work.  PM me if interested.  Thanks.

Not at all.  I could not do what I wanted to do from an iPAD.

Cheers

I did get one offer.  I'm actually surprised that more readers here don't have IAR installed.

Chuck--is it still a cross-post when they are not the same?  (one refers to the other)  As mentioned, I wanted more "eyes".  I think that might have been successful, as I don't know how many would have seen this.  Don't worry, Chuck, I am retiring  very soon, and then I won't be around to break more rules.  [or will I have lots of time to break many of them?  Must ponder...]

Oh, wait, now I'm posting off-topic drivel in a topical forum.

More of us don't have IAR because of the extremely high cost of the product.

I have a lot of IAR swag from trade shows.  Some of my favorite T shirts.  They had some really great salespeople.  Too bad I am independent and my clients just will not spring for something like that.  Even when I wear the T shirts.

It does not help that GCC is free.  When I was doing the 8051 stuff I had Keil. But that was 18 or so years ago in a different century it seems when computers ran win98 and had floppy disks.

I guess most of the actual contributors here (ie, the ones that answer - don't just ask questions) fall into the same category?

When I was doing the 8051 stuff I had Keil.

But then there wasn't (probably still isn't?) a viable free alternative for 8051?
