I have surfed the web in great confusion for 4 days.

I can not understand where the atmel website is to gain access to the MKII drivers, Im unsure why I get sent to a Microchip website where I can not find anything.

I have a avrisp MkII bought from ebay that appears to be a knockoff, similar or a duplicate of the real avrisp mkII.

when pluged in, on red led shines. Where do I get the driver? I am running windows 7 and may run windows 10 later. I can not understand why there is confusion all over the entire internet and why so many people are have the same problem I am having. This is somewhat ridiculous that I have to come here to ask for help. Back in my day as an old programmer it was a parallel programmer and IC-Prog, now I read most people doesn't even know what a hex file is.

THIS IS A desperate yell for H E L P

Thank you in advance!

There are several threads here about AVR Studio 4 on Windows 7, 8.1, and 10.

IIRC, it's Atmel USB drivers 7.0.888 for AVR Studio 4.

IIRC, there's one clone of AVRISP mkII and several (many?) function-like in the form of LUFA AVRISP2.

LUFA AVRISP2 go through Jungo for AVR Studio and through libusb for AVRDUDE.

This was a prolific driver, (PL2303) and is useless. So, it has been identified as junk!
