As the title says, I had Atmel Studio 6.2 installed for a long time working well with the Atmel-ICE but can not see it at all under Studio 7

This one - http://www.atmel.com/tools/atatm...

My machine is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version 1511 Build 10586.545

In Studio 6 Device Programming window I can select the tool and program my board no problem.

I installed Studio 7.0.1417 on the same machine but it does not see the tool at all. I'm not running both versions at the same time.

The Atmel-ICE has firmware version 1.24

In Device Manager I have

- Atmel-ICE Data Gateway 42.0.1.0 (2/02/2017)

- Jungo / atmelwindrvr 12.0.0.0 (9/10/2015)

I guess the Jungo driver is out of date? or not?

12.0.0 the installed one.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Studio\Drivers\Jungo\usb64\atmelwindrvr.sys

Not sure what to try next.

Thanks

Just a quick follow up..  I did try these instructions to manually add the device.

http://www.atmel.com/webdoc/atme...

I removed the old jungo driver and manualy added the path.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Studio\Drivers\Jungo\usb64

It shows three drivers, so I installed all three of them.

- atmelwindrvr : 12.0.0.0 9/10/2015

- WinDriver : 11.5.0.0 26/01/2014

- WinDriver1200 : 12.0.0.0 12/08/2015

I disabled all three to start with and Atmel Studio 6 still works? I'll reboot and see.

...That didn't work....

So I deleted all the Jungo and Atmel drivers from Device Manager.

Rebooted.

Then downloaded and ran Atmel USB Installer

https://gallery.atmel.com/Produc...

Rebooted.

Now I just have Atmel-ICE Data Gateway 1.0.0.0 5/01/2013 and Jungo WinDriver 11.5.0.0 26/01/2014

Still works fine in Atmel 6.2 but not in 7

I did a repair install of Studio 7 with the same online installer I downloaded previously. as-installer-7.0.1417-web.exe

This caused me to check my sanity because when I double checked the latest version of this on the Atmel site the file is called.

as-installer-7.0.1188-web.exe

While it failed with an error 'ARM32 User Account already exists' or something like that, It did fix my problem.

Double checked Studio 7 version after repair and it's still build 1417

Anyway ran Studio 7 Device Programming, can now select the tool and it asked to upgrade Firmware in the device 1.24 -> 1.26. I do that.

Now the Atmel-ICE works in both Studio 6.2 and 7.. Just the way I wanted it.

So this is kind of solved even though I don't really know what happened.

No longer used in Atmel Studio 7.0.1416 and subsequent :

(page 3)

Atmel Studio 7.0.1416

The following changes are done in Atmel Studio 7.0.1416:

• Changed driver to WinUSB for AVR Dragon™, AVRISP mkII, JTAGICE mkII, JTAGICE3, AVR ONE!, STK®600, and QT600

Note:

If you install this version of Atmel Studio in parallel with an older Studio versions or IAR Embedded Workbench® and are using AVR Dragon™, AVRISP mkII, JTAGICE mkII, AVR ONE!, STK®600, or QT600 read

How to downgrade to use older Jungo drivers.

IIRC, Atmel-ICE has been through WinUSB for quite sometime.

Then will not need Jungo at all.

Oops ... will need Jungo.

Cheers - I had similar issue. Studio 7 wouldn't recognise the ICE. Ran the installer to repair Studio 7 and all ok now
