Should I do a new product design with SAM3x8? (Arduino Due board)

I would like to make a new design for my device that I would like to be using for the next 5-10 years.

I chose the Arduino Due board with SAM3X8 microcontroller which should perfectly match my needs. However, I see the SAM3x8 is already a legacy device, although still in production.

How long can I expect it to stay in production? Or should I choose rather a SAM 4 device? For that, however, I would need to design my own board with peripherals. What I like is that Arduino Due board is just perfect for my needs, but it does have SAM 3X8.

Thank you.

Contact Microchip for lifetime information. Generally, if digikey/mouser say legacy then don’t use it for production.
At the moment, sam4 would be a better choice, however if you want 10 year production guarantee, then choose a part that has this.
If you use the Arduino libraries, this makes your code reasonably processor agnostic, thus making it easier to nigrate to a different part.
