USBasp programmer not work with usb isolator ADUM3160

hi

 

my problem is my old USBasp programmer not work with usb isolator Module

i have old USBasp programmer that work pretty with avr mcu and progisp software

 

      

 

now i want to use my programmer with usb isolator ADUM3160 Module ( for protect laptop usb port )

 

 

but programmer not work with usb isolator and even not recognized with Device Manger ( my os is Windows 7 64bit)

 

 

  

 

i test ADUM3160 isloator with arduino UNO R3 and work ok but with USBasp progammer not work

 

in ADUM3160 userguid say isolator work with AVRISP progamer but not working

plz help, what i do ? change programmer ? change isolator ? or use another driver or software ?

can i convert Arduino R3 to USBasp progammer work with progisp software ?

plz help i need to connect progammer with isolator

Why would anyone want to remove an AVR from its pcb.   Program it on an external board.  Then put it back on the project pcb  ?

 

God invented ICSP and it does what it says: In-Circuit-Serial-Programming.

 

You put a 5x2 header on your target pcb.  Buy a proper Chinese $3 USBASP.   Plug it into the 5x2 on your target pcb.   Allow the USBASP to power the target board.   (select 3V3 or 5V on USBASP)

 

Traditionally USBASP comes with 5x2 header.   Some come with standard Atmel 3x2 header.   Or you can buy/make an adapter.

 

Dig a deep hole.   Bury your "usb isolator ADUM3160"

no i dont want to remove avr and put it back to pcb , exactly i want to pragrame avr with ISP(In-Circuit-Serial-Programming) and for this i worry and want to use usb isolator

 

 

the main problem is device manager not recognize programmer if i use isolator ( Whether I put avr in programmer or use with ISP cable)

 

why you say usb isolator not useful ? you mean this isolator can not protect my usb port ?

I'm not sure what your trying to protect against, there is nothing on the programmer that would damage your laptop.....

Your photos in #1 all show an AVR mounted in the ZIF socket.

If you are using a ribbon from the 5x2 header, it can provide power to your external board. Remove the external board from any hazardous wiring.
.
Your USBASP is no risk to your Laptop. There is only a risk if your external target is connected to mains wiring or high voltages.
.
If your external target is at dangerous potential, you can always use your Laptop on battery power. i.e. you isolate the whole Laptop.

but how arduino uno work with this isolator ?

on battery power normally laptop should be safe , but i burned one usb port in past and for that i want to connect with isolator

Why do you want to isolate?

Most things can be unplugged for programming.

 

Yes,  I can understand if your target is at the top of an electricity transmission tower.   Or at the top of a TV transmitter.

In which case,  you design accordingly in the first place.
