Hi,

There is a problem with avr-gcc.exe in win98. I get the error:
avr-gcc: _spawnv: No such file or directory.

With winXP the same make-file works properly. What do I need for win98?

Here the log of a win98-make:

-------- begin --------
avr-gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 (WinAVR 20070101)
Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

Compiling: posctl.c
avr-gcc -c -mmcu=atmega8 -I. -gstabs -Os -funsigned-char -funsigned-bitfields -f
pack-struct -fshort-enums -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -Wa,-adhlns=posctl.lst -std
=gnu99 posctl.c -o posctl.o
avr-gcc: _spawnv: No such file or directory
C:\WINAVR\UTILS\BIN\MAKE.EXE: *** [posctl.o] Error 1

It would be appreciated, if you could give me some help.

Regards,
Martin

Unfortunately it is getting more and more difficult to support Windows 98. I can no longer find a machine with Windows 98 installed to test with. I would strongly suggest using Windows 2000 or XP.

Sorry for the German xref:

http://www.mikrocontroller.net/t...

Martin Thomas, author of WinARM writes there that this ought to be
a bug in pex-win32 that has been fixed in GCC's SVN.

Same problem with WinAVR-20070122 and Windows 98SE

I use a binary patched acr-gcc.exe and the patched toolchain works now with my Windows 98SE PC and my Windows XP SP2 PC.

Patched avr-gcc.exe, description, part of disassembly and proposal for source code patch for test version is available at http://www.mikrocontroller.net/topic/60163#490161

I really hope someone (Eric?) can change WinAVR on source code level. I'm a happy volunteer for testing changed versions on Windows 98SE

It's on my list for the next release. My apologies for not getting it in on 20070122.
