Author says that 64K SRAM must be at least 55ns. I have access only to 128K SRAM 70ns (628128LP-70). Could it work?

The spec of 55nS is mentioned for a reason! Using a slower part (70nS) will most likely work - but if it fails when cold/hot then don't be surprised! The failure will be seen as pixels not the right color and randomness. You might look for old PC motherboards for suitable high speed ram.
Thanks Kartman!
