Sorry for putting this in here, but the new site is freaking my computer out. Is anyone else having serious problems?

It looks great by the way, but each page will cause the computer to constantly reload the same page, sometimes it gets half , then flash starts relaoding again, sometimes comes up with a complete error, sometimes I get lucky and can actually view something.

I'm running a chinese operating system on this computer, but shouldn't have anything to do with it, and never seen this problem before. I'll try out on another computer tomorrow, which has an English operating system.

There's no excuse for not discussing that in the AVRfreaks.net
site forum instead.

How comes you can post here then?

Anyway, there's also that thing called email, so you could
probably drop the webmaster a mail.

I can post here, as this is the only forum I can get to, I can only get here because I can link through one of my older posts on the front page. I cant get the forum page at all or link through the forum jump at the bottom.

Ok, so you think an email is more appropriate, fair enough I may do that. And in return for you advise to me, I'll pass some on to you, perhaps you need lessons in politeness and learn not to splash out the sarcasm and patronizing attitude so liberally.

Whatever man, the moderator for this forum is welcome to delete/move do as fit with this thread as they wish, I am so sorry I terribly offended you by having "no excuse to post here' and for being so retarted as not to heard of email and used that method.

Replace the "f=3" in this forum's URL by an "f=4", that should get
you to the site forum.

Well, here's a link to the thread currently running
there as well:

Perhaps that one will work for you...

"Replace the "f=3" in this forum's URL by an "f=4", that should get

Thank you, I'll try this.

"> And in return for you advise to me, I'll pass

Oh, very kind of you."

And the sarcasam continues, my mistake for thinking you might care you offended someone.

I can't get there reliably either, Jorg--repeated paints, and/or no topic listing, and/or total garbage. All in a font so small not readable by mere mortals. The new scheme works for crap, and even crappier on dial-up. Flame me all you like, it is still not working well. If this is the only place to post, then I'll do it here.

[My platforms are W98/dial-up/IE5 and W2000/DSL/IE6.]

Temper, temper, temper!

I haven't seen amy of the problems others are seeing. I do see things have been moved around a bit, though. The only irritating thing I have had to deal with is the text is way, way too small. I need a magnifying glass to read the forums.

I find that I cannot reliably navigate the site at all in IE. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes I find myself in an infinite loop of page reloads. Like others have pointed out, I can usually make my way into the main AVR forum by manually typing in the URL. More often than not, I cannot make it into any other forums, or the main AVR Freaks page, by any means at all.

Everything works fine (and faster -- placebo effect?) in Firefox on the same computer. And Lee: The font sizes can all be modified in Firefox, to the point that with the maximum font size setting, I cannot fit more than 16 characters of message content side-by-side on my 19" 1152x864 screen.

Let me repeat -- I have not encountered any failed page loads on this website using Firefox at all so far. And all font sizes are adjustable, instead of just one or two items that change when you adjust the font scales using IE.

That's odd... I'm using IE. I'm not having any of those problems. I am using IE with the most current updates. Is that possibly the difference?

There is this old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I wonder what triggered the forum overhaul?

I don't have any access to IE anyway... Even the
Windows machine I've got access to here has removed
IE completely. I guess they've been sick installing
one security bug fix package per month.

Is the problem specific to dial-up? I have a satelite internet connection here at home - not real fast but, certianly not dial-up speeds. When I get to work, I'll try it there and see if I am having the stated problems.

I noticed the same problem with IE and Firefox. On my laptop with IE the pages load halfway and then do a continous refresh. On my desktop with firefox, the site works fine. Both machines are using the same broadband connection, so it's not strictly a dial up problem.

I think it might be the big rotating banner at the top of the site which is freaking out IE and forcing a reload when the banner cycles.

Changed to Opera from IE6 ....... no problems now.

Have WinXP SP2 and a two times dialup speed wireless connection.

I also get infinite reloads of most pages on the freaks site. Some pages eventually stop reloading and are just blank.

I have been using IE on two totally different computers/networks/ISP's. I do not plan on changing browsers just for Freaks.

Something very basic is wrong with the website loading. I am betting it will be an "easy" fix when the problem is discovered. "Easy" means the problem and change is easy, but it might be complicated by needing to be done in a zillion places.

Oh so it isn't just me then? - I'm only able to type this by switching from my IE6 to Firefox.

Cliff

PS Curiously IE7 on my XP laptop won't even admit to the existence of 'Freaks it tells me

"You are no connected to the internet (I am!) or
The website is encountering problems (that's for sure!) or
There might be an error in typing the address (there isn't)"

Well, I'm not having any problems with IE at work either. All seems to be working fine, except for the smaller text.

It seems they've been changing some fonts and so on during the nigth... it's much better now!

Edit: Humm... on the other hand... the images still don't look good; they are being shrink (we loose readability) and some of them seem to take a very long horizontal space although they are short.
