Hi everybody,

When we release a new AVR Studio version, we get a lot of feedback. We really appreciate that, it helps us make the product better.

The problem is that we get the feedback through too many channels, which makes it a bit difficult to follow up. If you have a question or bug report regarding AVR Studio, we'd appreciate you do one of the following:

1. If you want to air it to the freaks community, just post it as a public message in a new thread in this forum (please not in this thread as it will grow too long). We do follow this forum, and will try to answer when we see people run into bugs or problems that have not been discussed earlier.

2. If you want to report it directly to Atmel, please use the e-mail address avrbeta at atmel dot com if it is a technical question regarding AVR Studio or associated tools. If it is a more general AVR question or a non-technical question, avr at atmel dot com is the correct address.

Please do NOT
- send bug reports as private forum messages to Atmel developers
- send bug reports as e-mail directly to individual Atmel developers whose e-mail adddress you have acquired through earlier communication.

The above is true even if you (think you) know who is the right person to answer your question.

Following these simple rules will make it easier for us to follow up inquiries, register bugs, and coordinate responses, and ultimately give us more time to work with and improve AVR Studio.

There is a serious bug in the latest release of AVR studio, There is a typo in the part def file for the tiny 26, the ADCSR register is named ACSR and breaks all projects using the A/D

Hi, i have a problem with reguard to ISRs.
I´m working on ATmega128 (adapted on stk500).
I´ve written a programm with interrupts and there`s a bug that occurs when i want to jump at the service routine if i try to simulate it in AVR Studio 4.12
The simulation is working fine in version 4.11, why??

Hi,
I found some problems with watchdog simulation on mega8535. I'm using AVRStudio v4.12.460, but the earlier version worked the same way.

1) Simulator doesn't clear WDTOE bit in WDTCR after 4 cycles /as described in datasheet/. I found, that it works OK with ATmega16 with the same source program.

2) Additionally, when simulating the mega8535 there is no jump to 0x0000 address after long time of "rjmp PC" instructions. I use routine below:

.include "m8535def.inc"
.def temp=r16

.org 0x0000
      wdr 
      ldi temp, (1<<WDE)|(1<<WDP0) 
      out WDTCR, temp
      rjmp PC

with the breakpoint set at .org 0x0000 (before 'wdr' instruction)

This is a known issue in the simulator. Have a look at AVR Studio Help section Simulator - Known Issues (both general and mega8535 specific issues).

A very minor problem, so just FYI.
The Studio window maximize button, shifts the window down so it is partially off screen. Previous versions where OK, but 4.12 exhibits this problem. No big deal since you can always resize window correctly without maximize.

Hi!
I have a problem with AVR Studio 4. After the installation and run it either for assembly, debug or simulation I get the tool bar the "Con", AVR" and the flash memory programing options. If I exit the AVR Studio 4 and enter it again I will loose the "Con", AVR" and the flash memory programing options, that disables the option of fuse programing or other type of programing with the AVRRisp MkII. To solve the problem I have to unisntall the AVR Studio 4 completely, not leaving any parameters to have back acccess to ptograming mode.

hi,

i noticed a while ago that when i try to maximise avrstudio teh window gets maximised but is displaced on the y-axis. it is a bit lower than it should be (upto 2 taskbar hieghts). the displacement does not seem to be constant.

this is a minor annoyance as i cannot see the bottom panels (status bar, tabs etc.)

it seems to work fine on the university computers but not at my home... :?

i hope i did this right...

When pasting in Watch window by Ctrl+V, source code also is changing with cliboard contents.

If, in a blank file, I type:

.ORG 0x0000
RJMP

and then move down a couple of lines, because I forgot the label, and start to type the label a message box appears telling me: "An invalid argument was encountered". When I clear the message box my cursor and entry points are not in sync and all sorts of weirdness begins to happen, usually culminating in AVRstudio crashing. Generally, restarting the application resolves the problem.

Simple lesson, place the labels first :-)

AVRstudio 4.12 SP2, Build 472.

Hi,
I have confirmed this behaviour. It only seems to happen when text is copied from an external source (not from the AVR Studio editor itself). It is assigned issue #4674 for future reference.

unable to reproduce this. You can try to install the SP3 beta from http://www.atmel.no/beta_ware/ and see if it helps. If the problem persists, please contact us, we will need more details on how to reproduce it.

That did it. I thought I had applied SP3, but I re-installed it anyway and the problems seems to have stopped.

Hmmm, this is just weird. It is somewhat related to the previous post, thus my quotation. I have just upgraded to SP3 B490 and have this problem where, if I select a word -- or block of code -- sometimes, very randomly, Studio merely disappears or asks me if I would like to debug (I have Visual Studio 2005 installed). I have not tried to debug it as of yet. Just keep re-starting AVR Studio -- rebooting every nth time.

Not sure what can be done about this as I cannot seem to reproduce it with any consistency. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

studio4.13 works good with Office2007beta2&vista,but crashed with office2007rtm why?

could it be gcc's problem?because it's ok with the assamble,but crashed with gcc

New programmer interface have the terrible BUG: we couldn't read chip EEPROM content to simulator because READ buttom with appropriate checkbox enabled doesn't work!!! It's so difficult to woking now!!!

When I click a line in "Find in Files", it opens the source file with uppercase filename. When I then press the save button after making some changes, the real filename becomes uppercase too.

Another thing is having relative paths in the aps project file. They keep changing to absolute.

hi everybody, i´m a newbie, i hope you can clear my questions,could anyone of you answer this?. i´ve tried to upgrade avrstudio4.12 to avrstudio4.b528, but appears a message that tells some files .dll are not self registered or unregistered, so avrstudio not. get installed, and winavr latest version not runs. i´m beggining to learn how to write programs in languaje c and winavr, at last i have to install avrstudio4.12 an de oldest winavr version 2006, and it works good, my question is why i cant´install the latest versions of avrstudio4 and winavr, let me tell you i ask for some help in the atmel´s page and in many parts in these forums and tutorials, i made al the things i´d found but nothing works any idea?

i´ll work with the older version of studio4 and winavr ,just would like why i never colud install those software

Does anyone know any programming codes for stepper motors? We are using the PMD07UA stepper motor and we are going to interface it to the SKT500 (Atmega128) using AVR Studio 4.0 please let us know if you anyone can please help!
