What sensors are used in flame detector ?

Hi.

Done 30 year ago, perhpas it is new technique but the principe was a high voltage and et sonde between flame & case. 

flame working like a bad diode.

is there another way to detect flame ?

such as ir sensors 

or using semiconductor uv sensor or cheaper way to build uv sensor

You can use your fingers to detect flames if you wish!
The company i linked to also make semiconductor sensors as well.

What kind of "flame detector" are you talking about?

 

The ones commonly used in heating appliances are usually thermo couples...

As has been suggested by the many replies, there are several different ways of 'detecting' a flame, and different kinds of 'sensors' to along with each method.

 

Before anyone can give you a really meaningful answer, you need to tell more about your specific requirements.

  • How responsive does your system need to be?  Does it need to detect the presence of a flame within milliseconds?  Or will several seconds (dozens?) be sufficient?
  • Do you need to detect a flame from a distance?  How great a distance?  Or can it be a 'contact' sensor?
  • How large/small a flame needs to be detected?
  • How 'reliable' does the sensor need to be?  Are 'false positives' acceptable?
  • What will your system do with the information?  Is this a student assignment?  A hobby project?  A commercial fire suppression system?

this is optical flame detector sensor for CNG Station Compressor Motor

in the industrial sensor , used IR + UV + thermal IR (American Sensor)

and used only UV in (Russian Sensor) .

i'me looking for new idea in flame detector sensor , because UV sensor is very expensive and i can't use it in this project.

Do you have a new idea?

Semiconductor UV sensors "might work", but just barely. The industrial tube sensors, such as the 'mini peeper' series from Honeywell, operate at wavelengths shorter than 300 nanometer. Solid state sensors in that range are available, but prices approach the cost of the industrial sensor... and that's before considering lenses, mounts, amplifiers...

 

Given the likely disastrous results if anything would go wrong, I would stick with the tried and true. It will be an interesting experiment though, in other circumstances.

Being CNG there is regulations applying to that application. Anything electrical must be intrinsically safe or otherwise protected from sparking or high surface temperatures. Anything for that application is going to be expensive due to the certification requirements.

The flame detector in my central heating boiler consists of a single metal electrode that touches the flame. Must be generating a small voltage.

if i want use camera (CCTV) i must detect fire by image processing

which camera is better than i use ?

Detecting fire by camera would probably need a ir camera. These are significantly more expensive than a uv sensor.
