Hi everyone,
Just thought there might be a few ppl here interested in the plans I've just finished writing up for an AVR JTAG programmer.

I've been using one I built from the bootice plans for a couple of years now with a usb adaptor lead and kept having connection issues and blowing up usb ports when using my usb based oscilloscope as well.

So I designed up a new one that has a good solid usb chip onboard and completey isolates the programmer (and computer) from the target mico. I've been using my new one for a couple of months now and it works great.

While I've used the bootice bootloader in the past, I decided to use the evertool one for this, as it allows easy upgrading of the firmware. From the
Evertool Website:

Quote:

The bootloader is also copyrighted. Free for non-commercial use. For commercial use please contact me by e-mail.

It's also free to build yourself an Evertool for your work and just use the tool for programming/debugging.

I reckon other people might as well benefit from my design, and as I found a lot of difficulty finding decent plans when I first built my jtag programmers I thought I might as well write some up myself.

And if anyone has any improvements in mind, I'm quite open.

just a little update -
If anyone wants to build this but can't program the micro themselves jsut get in touch with me and I'll send you a preprogrammed micro at cost price. If you ask nicely I could send a board as well.
