Hi,

I changed something or something changed in AS 6.2.1563 SP2 and now its constantly putting me through an annoying dialog asking if I really want to close a file I'm trying to navigate to via "Go To Implementation".

Why is this a useful feature and how do I shut it off? "How do I shut it off?" is the question I need an answer to. I've gone through the Tools->Options and don't see any "inject annoying dialog" options to disable!

Thanks!

Close what file?

We only allow dialogs that are not annoying to be disabled... smiley

The file it offers to close is the one I'm asking AS to bring to the front. If you have more files open than fit across the tab bar, you can't see where the file you want is all the time. Also, you might not remember where the symbol you're looking for resides. If the file is already open, and you do the "GoTo Implementation", AS offers you the option of closing that file saying "That file is already open. Would you like to close it?" which is EXTREMELY annoying. Is this some kind of sanity test? I'm about to fail it I fear.

Why would that mechanism even be constructed?  But most important, how do you disable that interaction?

Thanks,

I found it: under Tools->Options->File Extension, I had enabled an option for .c files which I just Removed. That shut off the annoying offer to close the file, and also the prompt to select the character encoding.

My sanity is safe for the moment.
