I have made a new bootloader for ATMega32 which I am using for teaching a course in microprocessor technology. It is based on the code published by Peter Dannegger in 2003 with various modifications. It sends the hex file and possibly eep file from a Windows PC to an AVR prototype board through an RS232 cable or USB cable.

I am posting it here including source code in case somebody wants to use it.

I am using the Olimex prototype board (http://www.olimex.com/dev/avr-p40-usb-8535.html) but you may use any other prototype board. Modifications may be needed if the clock frequency is not 10 MHz.

Hello,

thanks for the BL. I 'm a beginner on the ATMEL programming.
I like to build a NIXIE clock and use a ATMEGA16 as controller
for it.

I modify your BL for the ATMEGA16 with a new clock frequency and try it on this board for the NIXIE clock. It works. I can do S/W updates without using a ISP or something
else. Only connect the serial I/F. It's great.

Thanks a lot.

Anyone else having problems downloading this? All I can download is an index.php file.

Dave, rename it to BL.zip... and so on.

Real men don't use backups, they post their stuff on a public ftp server and let the rest of the world make copies.

I just wanted to thank Mr. Agner Fog (the OP) for his contribution I tried it using the Olimex AVR-P40-USB board and it worked perfectly first time.

So thanks :D

What on earth has your question got to do with the subject of this thread? Seems to me this is simply a "hijack". In fact I don't see anything related to AVR in the question at all so it's also the wrong forum.
