Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have been using BascomAVR demo as my programmer (I only write in assembler so don't ever use the basic compiler) and my needs have exceeded the 2k limit. So I downloaded the free Atmel ISP prog from the Atmel site but it requires a dongle or special cable. I am a bit confused by all the info around but I think I've found a schematic that is compatible at: http://www.lancos.com/e2p/avrisp...

Can anyone tell me whether this will work with Atmel ISP programmer?

BTW I'm using a dt006 "Raver" and I'm open to any other alternative suggestions.

Much Appreciated.

Yep ! That's the STK200 dongle circuit.
It works. I built one myself.

Cheers

Hi Ozi,

Don't get confused with the AT90ISP serial port dongle. This has an AT90S1200 on board with firmware, of course. You use AVRprog.exe with this.
The circuit at lancos.com is the STK200 parallel port dongle. This is a different beast again. You use Isp.exe with this.

Cheers
Jack

Yes, that's where most of the confusion has stemmed from.

Since I have ISP.exe and the parallel dongle is much easier to make I'll use that combination.

Just out of curiosity, which one is better - AVRprog.exe or ISP.exe ?

Ta,
ozi
