Hi all

I have been working through smileys book and in the PC_Comm project I forgot to do the 'Make Extcoff' after the 'Make All' in winavr.

After that I loaded AVR studio and as I couldn't find PC_Comm.cof I opened PC_Comm.hex and programmed the butterfly with that.

Now when I try to load a new hex file I get the message 'No supported board found' even though I have turned the butterfly off and on and press and hold the joystick while I click on 'AVR prog'

Have I mucked up the bootloader?
it was working perfectly for all the previous projects in the book.

I just messed around with it and now its working again.

I had wires connected to port b and leds connected to port d. I disconnected the wires from port b and I could program it again. I didn't realise you couldn't program it while they were connected. funnily enough though it will program fine with the leds connected to portd.

I have been browsing the forums abit and found some people had to reprogram their butterflies with 'isp', I think I might just buy a programmer cos i'll probably render my butterfly bootloader useless at some point and will need to reprogram it.

is there anyone here from australia that knows a good local supplier of stk500? failing that any good international sources?

cheers :)

btw, Smileymicros book is great so far, highly recommended to any other newbs reading this post..
