after having installed and removed Studio 6.2 sp1 many times, and each time removed the Atmel folder from my programm files, the simulator does not works with attinny841 :

- it takes many time to install the tools

- the debugger - seems to - work with atmega16 and atmega328p, but not with attinny841

have somebody using vista any experience with attinny841 ?

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't have Vista immediately available here and it works fine on windows 7. (with some effort I can probably dig up a VM with Vista to try it)

Can you be a bit more specific about what you mean by "does not work":

- What do you try to do

- Type of project (C, assembler, etc)

- How does it fail (error message?)

- etc

Hi Roland,

thank you to help such an isolate case

Unfortunately I don't have Vista immediately available here and it works fine on windows 7. (with some effort I can probably dig up a VM with Vista to try it)

I wonder if there is still somebody here having installed successfully 6.2 on vista, and can tell me "yes it works with attinny841 too". This should avoid your effort.

    - What do you try to do

    - Type of project (C, assembler, etc)

    - How does it fail (error message?)

    - etc

Im trying to debug a little C++ programm, using the simulator. The simulator seems to works with other mcus, but not with attinny841.

The assembly windows is not generated (they are only nops), so the simulator can't work

An Hex file is created, it seams to be ok, I can put it into the device and flash a led

There is no error message

I can run the simulator, but i doesn't work

Installing 6.2 sp1 takes anyway a lot of time, so it's difficult to see if it's hanging somewhere ...

Installing Atmel USB Driver takes 10 minutes

Installing 6.2 takes 25 minutes

There is no error message, but I fear a lot of things go wrong, and I don't now why

This is the Build output :

If it runs correctly on a real device the program and build should be OK. I don't entirely understand your description of the problem when using the simulator, perhaps you could post a screenshot?

Are you able to run an AVR Assembler project on the tiny841 simulator? It doesn't have to do anything meaningful, just type in a few instructions and see if you can start a debug session and single-step.

Would it be possible for you to try to run your project on a different computer?
