i work some project for school, and got assigned to somehow work PDIUSBD12 chip to function for some avr programmer under linux, basically i need to develop some HID for start, and then develop a driver. but i have some beginner questions
- where does firmware go if i have only blank MCU that needs programming?
- is there any generic linux driver for PDIUSBD12, i have seen there is one for FTDI, now i understand these two are very different in way they handle data on MCU side, but my Linux (Slack, kernel 2.4.22) does not recognize it.
- can i send data to it from console the way you can send it to FTDI where you could cat > /dev/ttyUSB0 ??? which file to direct cat to if it can?
-i know it can somehow work under linux since i've seen on site and on net that people mention it as useful and workable in that environment, but i cant get it recognized (possibly because it has no firmware :)
- what should i read?
any help is appreciated
