Hi,

I'm looking to develop a project using mega8's however I'd like to be able to store some configuration within the eeprom prgrammed directly from either a simple PC user application or another mega8, without using any code on the mega8 itself.

Can anyone provide pointers ?

Thanks

Stuart

That would be pretty much impossible. I do this in almost all of my projects but I have a monitor program that can be accessed in the first few seconds after reset (includes password protection), and then let's you modify EEPROM bytes in a hex format, very rudimentary but it works :D In some cases I have an ASCII file download facility to store default messages that can be customised for each client.

You could read and write the eeprom using the serial programming interface
just as a programming tool would. The data sheet explains how to do it.
