I'm new to avrstudio (been using avr's for ~8 years, though). I'm running a program under the simulator, and when I open the data memory window and get it into the ascii display mode I expected to be able to put the cursor in that ascii display area and enter ascii text, just like I would in any hex editor. But it doesn't seem to work for me. I can enter values in the hex data area of the window, but that's a painful way to enter ascii strings.

Am I doing something wrong?

I've got ver 4.10 build 356

Thanks

You may have to use the painful way. :( Double clicking on the data (the hex side not the ascii side) you get a choice of Hex, Decimal, Octal and Binary. May want to advice Atmel of your problem, perhaps it is an easy thing to add ASCII also in a future version of Studio.
