Hi there,
I am wondering what is going on with the avr32 linux. Some of the components, like for examples the i2c driver, are buggy and not supported anymore in the buildroot.
The AP7000 series have been marked as mature and not recommended for new designs. The same has happened with the NGW100. Even more, some time ago it was possible to download the buildroot from the ngw100 website (http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/tools_card.asp?tool_id=4102), now they have remove the links from there... It seems they are not going to support linux anymore... Is the AVR32linux going to disappear?
Cheers. |

Actually, a new Buildroot release was pushed some days ago to the public GIT repository, more info at http://lists.avr32linux.org/pipermail/b ... 00512.html
Dunno what's up with the i2c driver, but you could always use the i2c-gpio driver. It's a bit slow, but follows the I2C standard better.
Also seems like AVR32 Linux is still supported; http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/9/20/57
But as you have noted, the device family is mature, so there is not a huge amount of development done from Atmels side. Perhaps they will release the NGW100 mkII, its supported by the last kernel releases |

That sounds nice !! I have invested a lot of effort developing and getting used to the NGW100, which was my first embedded linux system. I am afraid that now they will stop that line and all my effort was in vain. Actually I was even taking a look at the new version of the beagle board and move to that platform.
I'll keep an eye on the possible mkII version!
Cheers. |
