Hi folks
We are at CES in Las Vegas and are in desparate need of an AVR USB programmer.
We've had some difficulty with bootloading an amplifier using our laptop and a USB to serial converter.
Anyhow, if there is someone in Vegas that can spare some time and allow us to use an AVR USB programmer, it would be greatly appreciated.
If someone is keen to help, perhaps PM and I'll provide our hotel details. If you're a CES attendee, drop by our booth at The Venetian 29-112, or perhaps we could drop by your booth.
Cheers... |

Peret, it was fantastic to meet you last night. Thank you for being so generous with your time, we really appreciated it and you got us out of a huge fix.
Perhaps we'll see you down-under at some stage.
Thanks again. |

| Well, if there are any electronics shows in Orlando, and someone needs a jtag, give me a call. Peret bailed us out at the Sema show a couple years ago. Atmel should send a field engineer to every major electronics show.... New York, San Francisco.... |

Elsewhere that's known as a quarantine. |

The CES is the Consumer Electronics Show that happens in LA every year (??), so perreaux would be making EXPENSIVE amplifers.
One of my sons in law goes there every couple of years but this year they are going to a similar show in Holland I believe. |

"So what's the big deal?" thought Captain Giovannious to himself as he made his way through the crowded aisles of the Consumer Electronic Show. "I don't need a 3D toaster. I don't need any of this stuff."
The Captain had received a tip that both The Usch and the Son of Claw would be at the show. While he had indeed found evidence that The Usch was there (someone had scribbled in corrections on some C code decorating one of the booth displays), there was no sign of the Son of Claw. Little did the Captain know that at that very moment the Son of Claw was a few miles away, blasting a life size image of the Captain with an AK-47.
The Captain stopped at a booth proudly proclaiming "MicroChip," and a pleasant man named Leon introduced himself. "What are these 'chips' I hear people talking about?" asked the Captain. "I like the American potato chips, but I do not think I would like the buffalo chips. Are your chips 3D? Everything else here seems to be."
Leon's eyes glazed slightly and he excused himself, moving to the back of the booth and resuming typing at a laptop. Finishing typing and clicking the submit button, he looked back up again, but the Captain had thankfully gone. Perhaps Leon had been a little rude, but leaving the poor guy was probably best. Leon's philosophy was to "carefully pick those to annoy."
The Captain's wanderings brought him to the Apple booth. He liked apples, but he didn't see any. Just a bunch of geeky looking guys standing around like they were waiting for Godot. Perhaps Jehovah was slated to send the tablets down from the mountain or something. Apples, apples, apples - now the Captain was thinking about food. Forget The Usch. He was now on the search for a hot dog.
Finally reaching his destination, he told the hot dog vendor "Make me one with everything."
"I'm an atheist," replied the vendor.
"So, I should pay you in advance?" asked the Captain.
"It's just that this dog has no warranty," replied the vendor.
"It sounds like you don't either," said the Captain.
The hot dog, while it lasted, was a little taste of heaven, the Captain decided. Now to resume the search for the bespeckled bovine.
"Hmmmm...," thought King Samperi, closing his book thoughtfully. "I'm a little hungry myself. A 3D toaster. Now there's something I can use." |

Yes, perreaux make extremely powerful (and expensive) amplifiers with digital control powered by AVR. They had one unit that needed reflashing, but the AVRprog they brought with them screwed up for some reason, leaving them with a brick. I loaned them a Dragon, which breathed righteous fire into the heart of the amplifier and restored it to life.
Strangely, they told me the AVRprog cost $75 in NZ, and they'd not heard of the Dragon. Methinks the local Atmel distributors are in need of some competition.
There, now I've gone and broken my Vegas Residency Agreement by telling. I'll probably be exiled to Eureka, where there's nothing to know about and nobody to tell.
