I am having difficulty getting forum searches to respond.
Does any one know if there is a current temporary problem with the search or if there are any undocumented issues where I may e causing the failure myself, eg serach string too long etc? |

Some of us don't use the forum search, but instead use Google where you enter the search term followed by site:avrfreaks.net

There is a current permanent problem (or perhaps several problems) with the search function.
I have not stressed it to the point that I have definitive proof, but I've seen problems that I think relates to e.g.
- the search result being to big (too many hits)
- search not hitting a specific thread/post although the search terms are there
and possibly other problems too.
I just consider it another piece of the puzzle that is the rot of this site.
Here's another thing for you to try: All multi-page threads have an "all" link at the top. Pick a long thread (e.g. the tutorial on interrupt-driven UART communications by 'abcminiuser', 25 pages) and click the 'all' link.
Here's another thing for you to try: Click on the username link on any post by 'clawson'. When you get to Cliffs public profile, click 'all post by...'. You will see the 25 latest posts by him. Now click the link to see the second page of this listing.

Make the most of your stay here as long as it lasts. The server/software will eventually crash. At that point Atmel will do nothing about it - this place has no value at all for them. I believe the only reason it still exists is that a few enthusiasts at Atmel Trondheim supports it.
An alternative would be to move all genuine tech-talk about AVRs to e.g. StackOverflow. (We'd have to do the OT/social thing somewhere else though...). |

For the forum part, an alternative could be Jeff Atwood's new venture, Civilized Discourse Construction Kit (http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2013/02/civilized-discourse-construction-kit.html). |

The search function has been dysfunctional for some time now. As Smiley notes do a google search and it usually points to an avrfreaks topic. Kind of like getting into the house through the back door |

Instead of relying in that you can do a search limited to AVRfreaks only using tip #3 from http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307 ... xpert.aspx
A search like
Quote:
adc site:www.avrfreaks.net
would only return AVRfreaks results
