All I can say is "Why on earth" is this required?
I've created ANOTHER account at Atmel in order to use Extension Manager and it still does not recognize me.
Why in the he** isn't user information kept in one place and this information used whenever a new version, upgrade/update or anything else? It is so frustrating having to register for every dang thing.

I agree. When I complained about the registration process and how it would not recognize my changed e-mail address, the whine I got from tech support was "we don't keep track of registration - its all on your machine (or words to that effect)!

What a crock of baloney!

Hmm interesting if they don't keep track of registration then why do they need it.
I've tried to login through the Extension Manager for the last hour. Created an account because it said that my email didn't exist in their records, then when I try to use the new account it doesn't recognize it so I went through there "Forgot your password" to have password sent to me and after doing that about 5 times still haven't received an answer.
Are they trying to drive developers away?

I was told: (effectively) "Well, we send the acknowledgment to what ever e-mail you specify." I don't believe it because I tried to download the original Studio6 on several occasions, specifying my new e-mail address. When I finally let my old one be auto-filled (by my computer?), the message with the download link came.

I have serious questions whether or not I was being given accurate information.

We do indeed track the extension manager logins - this means that we can see how many people have installed what, so we know which components are most used by customers (a bit like the Android marketplace). You should only need two logins - one for the Atmel site for the initial download of Studio, and another for the extension manager.

Yes, it's a bit wonky that these two logins aren't coordinated, but they are implemented through two entirely different platforms. The good news is that this should be all you will need in the future, with one allowing you to download from the Atmel site and the other allowing you to install extensions.

There was a registration issue with the studio extension manager login system the other day, which I heard has since been corrected.

You have of course checked your spam filter? The registration problems that were observed previously seems to have been corrected.

Morten and Dean,

I managed to create an extension manager account and authorized it under a different display name but now when it asks me to login to download the extension I get the authorization link in an empty window and when I click the window goes blank.
I can get to and login to the http://ase.atmel.com/ site.

I'm afraid I have no idea (I'm not in the tools department and don't know the internals of the extension manager) but Morten is and I'm sure he'll be able to come up with a solution for you. In the meantime, if you are just after the updated ASF extension you can download it from here:

This would make me suspect that there are something fishy about your Internet Explorer installation (afaik, this is the web display engine used in the extension manager).

Have you some obscure preview version or enabled some strict security policies for it?

The extension manager is not something that is developed or serviced at my department, but from US of A.

Also, I'm leaving on holiday after work tomorrow, so after friday, my response time will drop a bit Very Happy

Hmm had the same issue(in the internal network though). Using Firefox instead helps.

Morten and Dean,

I use FF not IE but I set IE as my default and tried no go, disabled AVG no go. There is nothing funny or different about my web setup I use it to develop my site and perform many other operations without any problems.
I am wanting to install the AnkhSVN extension so will try to find it elsewhere. I installed my extension http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microso ... 4282fd7acb without using your extension manager so I know it can be done.

Thanks for your help

By all means, personally I don't poke IE with a 10 meter pole, but it is still used as an internal display engine in Windows.

I can't quite see why you are getting an authorization link in this window, as the extension manager only opens the login page to get an authentication token.

If the issue persist, please add a bug in the tracker so that someone may pick it up (see previous post about vacation)
