Bluetooth version 4.0 have very low power consumption and on battery cell CR2032 can work about 2 year (huh super) but this is only for slave device not for master?? master have still big power consumption or not???
tested any one bluetooth 4.0 module?? is possible bigger distance with external antenna??

| range (bigger distance) is governed by Bluetooth Class I vs. II, etc. |

Hello DZairo,
I just finished my first Bluetooth4.0 (=BLE=BluetoothLowEnergy) product using Bluegiga BLE112 modules. I programmed them in a script language, using the module as main processor.
Please mind that BLE can NOT communicate with earlier Bluetooth versions. You need to communicate between 2 BLE modules or use a BLE and on the other side a modules that can handle BLE and 'old'bluetooth.
But if your setup is just to communicate between BLE and BLE it works great, has very little power consumption and range is I think similar. |
