Didn't see the 384kB/32kB version in the XMEGA C3 preliminary datasheet but good to know there's a plan for one.
C3 looks like an A3U minus DAC, minus JTAG, and a slower ADC; slightly less power consumption.
Revision I, no known errata - looks like it underwent a lot of spins and testing. |

That EETimes articles says that ATxmega384C3 and 384D3 are sampling now.

At this point I have a 32K SRAM hooked to an XMega256, but if this 384 becomes real, then I do not need the external SRAM.
Maybe now that the XMega is established, it will be mere weeks not years before these are available?

Perhaps:
a) Because silicon area costs and 512K would have priced it out of the market sector they are trying to service?
b) They had a large customer with a requirement for something over 256K so they asked them how much they thought they needed and made a chip design to deliver that (again silicon area costs)
As John cells they likely have a "cell" for a 64K or 128K memory array so they place 6 or 3 of those. |
