Hi everybody,

I want to translate RS232 to 3.3V signals(got
the MAX3232 chip)

However for proper operation datasheet states that
0.1μF=100nF capacitors needed, polarized or non polarized.
Can I use non-polarized caps or you think will be a problem....(according to schematic of MAX3232 polarised are used)...

Use ceramic capacitors - they are non-polarized by nature, small, cheap and reliable.

Haker_fox the schematic (inside datasheet) shows +(plus) and -(minus) connections for capacitors, thats why I was confused (....not Iam a newbie still...Smile).

Thanks guys, I will go for ceramic.

The schematic you're referring to just wants to make sure that, if you are using polarized caps, you connect them as shown. Of course, if you don't use polarized caps, the way you connect them is about as important as the pope's balls...
