Yes but it all seems to be vapourware to me. I've been watching this for months as the offering seems unbelievable but I begin to wonder if the whole thing is the biggest troll/wind up ever? When someone I know actually says "I have a Raspberry Pi in my hand" then I'll take it all back and eat my words but so far it seems to be all talk and no action.
If they DO pull it off then this blows all you Arduinos and LPCXpresso's to hell! |

No thanks, having enough "fun" with the LPCXpresso. |

The Raspberry-Pi is to be my Christmas present; I suspect Santa might be running late.
I've also been following them for the last few months, and given the background of the foundation's board members, I really, really doubt that it's a wind-up. In fact, I predict that the first Raspberry Pi's will be delivered before the end of January 2012. If they're not, I'll eat my words! |

Neat, but I'm pretty satisfied with my BeagleBone.
For now |

The current bid on that "£15" board is £1361!!
A cynic might say that a rather clever business model would be to tell folks there was this great board coming for the unbelievable price of £15. Have 100 made at £50 each (or whatever it really costs) then sell them to "early adopters" on ebay who are desperate to get one in all the fervour that's been created. If you can sell 100 at ~£1000 making £100,000 for an initial outlay of £5000 that represents a pretty good ROI!
(you do have to wonder what kind of idiot would be willing to bid £1361 when you can buy this for €36: http://www.watterott.com/de/FriendlyARM-Micro2440-64MB - I've used one and it's blinding value for money!) |

It is a ridiculous amount of money for the raspberry. I think it is probably just a few early adopters getting over enthusiastic.
I hope it all results in something good for our education establishments. |

Sounds like the 'great rock and roll swindle' all over again. Since Malcolm McLaren is dearly departed, we can't blame him.
Could end up more lemon tart than raspberry pi. |

also the article talks about the price of the extended version only being about 36 pounds, so someone has money he needs to spend or indeed a few people got over exited. |

Apple 1s tend to go for around $15,000, so 35 years from now, the buyer might be able to sell it for a profit |

| Ah, and I gave my MITS Altair (serial # in the mid 300s) away. Pity. |
