In AVR Studio 4 it was possible to keep the programmer window open by minimizing it insted of closing. This way it was a single click in the toolbar to do an auto programming.
I could not find any way in AVR Studio 5 to do so. Programming a device requires several repetitive clicks. It hurts.
In Studio 4 I was not reluctant to program a device repeatingly even after single line changes of the code. This sometimes led to early wear out of the flash.
Is Atmel suffering of insufficient chip production capacity that must have been managed by this annoying EWOP (Early Wear-Out Prevention) feature? |

| Sorry, I can't help. I just wanted to mention that this is my #1 problem with Studio 5 so far. It's very irritating. |

You can use the "Start without debugging" command. Usually it is not present in the menu bar, but you can add it with "Add or remove buttons" (down arrow at right edge of a menu).
Works great. |

I guess that depends on your hardware. Unfortunately it didn't work with an XMEGA and an AVRISPmk2.
This is also the first bad thing I noticed. The context based keyword suggestions and proper tab tracking is great (almost like using VS2008 ), but this reflash process is painful.
My number one problem also. Going to check the wishlist... |

It doesn't work for me either. I'm using an AVR Dragon connected to the target by ISP interface. When I click "Start Without Debugging", it is trying to do something with the Dragon (LEDs are blinking on it) but finally I got a message that suggests that it is a JTAG related problem.
I guess this feature relies on the JTAG debug interface, even if I just want to flash the device WITHOUT debugging. |
