Lots of good info here on the optimizer and what various levels do. Thanks to all who provided so much information.
Since I just got a EVK1104 Dev Board and it has a rather large DSP application as an example I decided to run some tests on the example code provided. A screen shot of the results is attached. It shows the same large application and it's resulting code size for all the optimization levels (from AVR Studio 6).
I compared the Hex file size and the size of the flash image via AVR32-SIZE.exe utility. They both track very well in % differences.
Just sharing for what it is worth - I think actual data is always worth something. |
