Hi,

I cannot find information on the actual data rates that can be achieved using serialnet between a coordinator and single end device. Does such information exist?

Maximum on-air data rate is 250 kbps, and maximum UART baud rate is 38400, but what is the maximum possible actual data rate due to bitcloud and serialnet overhead for the ATZB-24-A2 Zigbit module for example? Lets assume it is a simple network with coordinator and single end device only, and distance between them is 1m.

Actual data rates is ZigBee are defined by higher layers. For example for ED throughput is determined by a polling rate, which is 1 second by default. That means that data rate is very low. EDs are not designed to transfer large amounts of data.

But even after the MAC layer you will get max 120 kbps of sustained throughout.

That baud rate will certainly be a bottleneck, even 115200 is not enough for sustained 802.15.4 i/o. If the chip can handle it, 921600 works through the FTDI USB interface.

It won't be for ZigBee, which SerialNet uses. Even for 802.15.4 115200 is pretty close to a physical limit.
