I am building LED CUBE 4x4x4 and i am on the step where i need to etch the pcb i can't find a cheap paper for etching and cheap ones are from hong kong which take a month to be delivered. But i had an idea about the photo glossy paper i searched the internet and found out that quiet few people do it now my question is does it really work? Do the pcb come out good that way? Maybe someone has done this before or has a paper that uses and could share the brand or link i found this paper would it be good? Also does the paper need to be thick or thin.
Another one is a chalk paper did anybody hear about it ?

Get ink jet transparency sheets instead .I've built 64 pin TQFPs using them with the UV light method .

Join the Homebrew PCB Yahoo group. There are lots of people there using various techniques for making PCBs, including toner transfer.

Some people claim to get good results using glossy magazine paper. I use the standard photo-etch process with transparencies printed on an inkjet printer, and get excellent results.

They aren't as good as ink jets for transparencies, so you are stuck with TT. You need the right type of laser printer, of course. HPs are best, and Brother printers don't work very well. You didn't get a Brother?

I don't use TT. Try glossy magazine paper as I suggested.

Personally I have great results using sticker backing paper (throw away the sticker, use the glossy anti-stick side below it to print and transfer.

TQFP-100 no probs.

Do you print with a laser printer on a sticker paper?
Also Glossy or matt?

I don't suppose it would matter, the backing will most likely be the same.

I have been using the blue press-n-peel paper which is quite expensive, however, I am happy with the results. I might try this type of paper myself as we throw away loads of it at work.

Cheers for the tip Xantor.

Laser printer on backing paper, I bought the cheapest stickers I could find (price stickers from Tesco).

I use a regular crappy iron to iron it on, doesn't need much time or pressure to transfer it all.

No soaking, just peel it off like you would a sticker. Close to 100% transfer.

I used plain vanilla staples picture paper for the toner transfer method. I think 100 pages costs me $10 from staples.

I have not made a pcb at home for about 2 years because now you can get a decent quality PCB made for $10-$20, but you have to wait 3 weeks.

What's the width of traces coming off the pins using CAD and did you build the PCB ( nice achievement, if possible ) or outsource ?

On those TQFP-100 (or 144), I've been wondering how to route all those power pins on a 1 sided board. Wondering if it's beyond my home-making skill and I should use a 2 sided board from one of those inexpensive board houses.

Just use lots of breakout tracks and pads, with wire links. I don't bother making my own boards with anything over 44 leads.

Sounds like sage advice to me.

With this way if every goes as expected and the circuit is transfered to board exactly, you will save cost from photosensitive board, from lamp-ballast and electric energy but will pay to toner lost each time when printing another copy of board and cost of special transfering papers and energy for the iron.
Can be done with cheap magazine paper but the result is undefined. And if fail then must start from the begining and give to board a polishing.
I use it for a quick and dirty prototyping for small projects.
