I'm having trouble installing AVR Studio 2.6 (Eclipse) on a Windows 7 machine. I've previously installed java runtime and the atmel toolchain. Any suggestions?

Is your java VM up to date? Does this occur during installation or at run time? Can you give some more details on when/where it actually brakes?

Windows 7
Service Pack 1
64 bit.

Java is up to date, v6.25

Toolchain installed.

Error happens immediately upon launching studio installer. Dialog box mentions something about "Previous installation did not complete."

I've tried re-downloading. Removing everything and trying again. Removing everything and trying again in a different order (w/o first installing toolchain).

Uninstalled toolchain. Used Norton to clean registry. Rebooted. Re-downloaded. Installed Studio (w/o first installing toolchain). Seems to have worked this time. [Cannot find Jungo/USB stuff, but will worry about that when new JTAGICE III arrives.]

Sort of eager to see how the new Visual Studio v5 implementation compares with this old Eclipse version.

It's got lots of problems, it's more of an alpha release than a beta.
