Now that I am starting to think about using the AVR32UC3A series in my product I'm wondering when it will be available to buy. Anyone have any idea? I'm looking at posts going back a few months here and its making me wonder if I should select a different part.
I've checked DigiKey, Mouser, and Arrow. None of them even have any parts in their system.

UC3A samples are already available since a few weeks... so let's wait a few more days for distributors
You can request samples on atmel.com here:
http://atmel.com/forms/Samples.asp?family_id=682
You can also contact your local Atmel office to get fresh news!

BTW Atmel starts the samples with UC3A0512 and UC3A1512 (the max flash size). All A0 devices are pinout compatible, all A1 devices are pinout compatible.

I think UC3B samples are released too. You may try atmel.com webpage to request samples.
Maybe EVK1101 kits will be available soon in some distributors.

I filled out the atmel.com sample request form a while back to get my hands on an UC3B, but they never even got back to me on that (totally ignored my request, no email, no nothing) After that I asked support about samples, they answered all my other questions and ignored the UC3 part.
Has anyone actually actually tried getting a UC3B sample and actually got one? Ie. do they actually exist at this point in time? |

The uc3b is sampled since August, so distributors should have their stock open now.

I called my local distributor here in Salt Lake City, Utah and they were looking at December 2007 for general availability of the UC3A parts.. Does that sound right? Seems like a little ways off.
cheers,

Does anyone have pricing info of the UC3A devices already?
Just to compare AT32UC3A1256 to AT91SAM7S256 (256K Flash, 64K SRAM devices) for example...

I am curious if anyone has had recent luck sampling these parts? I sent a sample request for a AT32UC3A0512 a week ago, they referred me to the Texas distributer who then told me Atmel is only providing the AT32UC3s to a small number of customers.
I also asked when they were looking at starting production of this device and she told me January.
I would like to use this device in a product but would need to get a couple to prototype ASAP.....
Thanks,
Brian |

I've been waiting for the last few months on production parts. I can't wait forever for Atmel. They provided us with dev boards, but no way to actually make anything.
I'm to the point where I'm trying to figure out if its worth buying the dev board just for the AVR32 and desoldering the chip...
Not very happy...
Atmel has not returned my call. |

The Texas distributer was really friendly and quick to respond but she didn't sound very definite in the information she gave me. One would think that since you can get the development boards from places like DigiKey you would also be able to at least buy the chips.

| Interestingly enough when I received my samples - the customs form had a value of $2.36 or something like that. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but at $2.35 for an AT32UC31512 I somehow don't think it could be priced that low.. Maybe that's the high quantity pricing. |

| Hey, that price is "customs" pricing, you only get that when you get samples:) |
