Crumb8
Updated: Jan 20, 2005
Description
Crumb8 is a ready to use "rapid prototyping module" for the ATmega8 on just 18x36mm² (DIP28).
The following components are integrated:
- the ATmega8 in TQFP32 package
- two single-row 14 pin headers with the ATmega8 signals (except XTAL) on DIP28 form factor
- one serial port (incl. RS232 transceiver and 5 pin header)
- reset circuitry
- 14.7456MHz quartz (XTAL)
- 6 pin ISP header
- reset jumper
- status LED
STK500 Bootloader
Crumb8 is being shipped with a preinstalled STK500 compatible bootloader (stk500boot), which allows programming of the ATmega8 in system through the serial port, i.e. without a dedicated ISP adapter! Almost any popular programming software like AVR-Studio, avrdude or uisp can be used. The "Connector Kit" (as mentioned above) contains a simple Sub-D-9pin to 5pin adapter, which allows direct connection of a standard PC serial cable to Crumb8.
In contrast to the Crumb128 bootloader, the Crumb8 bootloader does not provide additional monitor functions, due to less program memory on the ATmega8!
