NICholas Microcontroller NIC
Updated: Jan 20, 2005
From Russia with love.. NICholas is a 10/100Mbps microcontroller NIC that can be adapted for use with most any AVR. Based on the high speed ASIX AX88796L, NICholas can run the same code that powers the Packet Whacker and the EDTP Easy Ethernet AVR devices. All of the ASIX AX88796L address, data and control lines are pulled out to a standard .1-inch double row header. An integrated RJ-45/magnetics package also houses the three status LEDs.
Just like the EDTP Easy Ethernet AVR/ASIX, NICholas is built using low-noise 4-layer circuit board technology and comes assembled for $55 US and in kit form for $45 US.
