Summary

This device is so much better than the 8051! (they are pin-compatible). Push-pull I/O, 20 times the performance, on-board EEPROM. And with our favourite AVR core, it's unbeatable! This device is also available in a 3V version, ATmega8515L. This device is a fully pin and function upgrade of the AT90S8515-8.

Comments

The ATmega8515 was released to production in December 2002. Note that as of January, availability of the PDIP package was still limited.
