Summary

It's the upgrade of the AT90S8535, but it's also a lot more. This puppy has 7 differential analog inputs, low power oscillators, and SELF PROGRAMMING MEMORY! (Yeah) Not happy with the size of the EEPROM?. No worries, use the entire Flash Memory for your parameters. Or download code upgrades on the fly. And it's still impossible to hack the program memory. This device is also avalable in a 3V version, ATmega163L.

For new designs, you should use ATmega16. The ATmega163 was announced End Of Life in 2002. Last orders need to be in by January 6th 2003, and last delivery is May 6th 2003.
