I wonder if anyone knows if it's possible to program the xplained board through USB using the board controller? Can it be done with Atmel Studio? Have tried to find procedures/tutorial but failed. The following discussion identified the possibility but it seems that usb-programming was never tested. (I know how to program with avrdragon.)

This topic has a solution.

The user manual:

http://www.atmel.com/Images/Atme...

Seems to suggest that the AVR32 on the board is ONLY there to act as a UART-USB bridge so, no, it does not seem to offer programming (or debugging) and the only way to do that seems to be to attach another programmer (Dragon, JTAGICEmkII, JTAGICE3, Ateml-ICE, etc) to it.
