I was debugging some code in the simulator over the weekend (*) and noticed what I think would be very simple and useful addition.

At present, the "terminal" window works only with the gcc compiler and special library calls. It would be great if we could instead connect the terminal window to the UART (for UART-enabled devices) so that writing a character to the UDR would display the character on the terminal? I often use the UART for displaying status messages, etc. and this would be very useful indeed.

Anyone agree/disagree?

Sean
