Microduino, a new Arduino compatible board

I chanced to see an interesting project for Arduino. The boards are only 1,1 by 1 inch, and stackable.

Considering that it has absolutely nothing to do with AVR Studio, I think you can change "may not" to "does not".

Microduino is cute packaging, but IMO they screwed up by not using an AVR with an integral USB port, plus a microUSB connector. Instead, they'd have you buy the CPU module plus another module for USB/Serial. Sum the costs of each, then sum the sq. in. size, and you have more than a PJRC Teensy2.

But the packaging concept is good.

I wish we had an Atmel Cortex M3 equivalent to Teensy3.

That's what I thought, but probably there's not enough space between modules even for a micro-USB connector. The Arduino doesn't use a processor with built-in USB, so why should anyone else use one :wink:

You mean Teensy4 with SAM3U (USB Hi-Speed 480Mbps)?

I saw something very similar to this at the NYC Maker Faire. Feel the same way STEVECH feels regarding having to purchase two modules to get started, BUT the Kickstarter advert does say that the idea behind this is so you can use one USB/serial interface to numerous cpu modules. So, that being said, in the long run it may save you a few $$, or it might not :?

I don't get it. There is an arm that can do usb at 480 million bits per second. Atmel makes arms. Why cant they take the mega avr schematic and lay it out for the process that will do 480 MHz USB and have a fast avr?

Seems quite rare that one would need more serial ports than is on the CPU itself. Not going to be doing USB host on a small-RAM AVR.

Gimme that Cortex 3 from Atmel in a tiny form factor for the student/hobby world.
