hey,

i am designing a PCB with a SAMS70J. i am currently working on the power supply for the SAMS70J.

The datasheet states that the SAMS70J must have a power rail connection on VDDUTMIC and VDDUTMII. i cant find those pins in the pin tabel in the datasheet am i correct in thinking that those pins aren't necessary on the 64 pin edition.

kind regards

On my data sheet I see VDDUTMII on pin 59 and 60. However, I do not see VDDUTMIC. Which does seem odd.

Pins 59 and 60 are marked as being DP and DM, the full-speed (not high-speed) data pins for USB. They are referenced to VDDUTMII, but do not carry that signal themselves.

The datasheet in section 59.14 contains the following erratum:

Issue: USB is not working in 64-pin LQFP package

USB does not work in 64-pin LQFP package option for the following devices:

SAMS70J21

SAMS70J20

SAMS70J19

Workaround: None.

That's kind of a small print for a (in my opinion) big problem -- one of the advertised features does not work at all. It looks to me like due to a design flaw (like perhaps forgetting to include the VDDUTMII pins) the USB doesn't work at all.

If you want USB, you will need to use the 64-pin QFN or one of the larger LQFP parts.
