Hi,

I have the following boards:

SAM D20 Xplained Pro and QT1 Xplained Pro Mutual Capacitance.

When I load the example application, build the solution and then "Start debugging and break" and start stepping over, the program doesn't return and, on pausing it has locked in function "delay_init" in "systick_counter.c".

On stepping over again, I get a message box:

Error resuming target execution, please look at the backend log

Timestamp: 2016-06-08 14:57:39.578
Severity:  WARNING
ComponentId: 20100
StatusCode: 131107
ModuleName: TCF (TCF command: RunControl:resume failed.)

Error resuming target execution, please look at the backend log

Log file attached.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Ben.

In 7.0.943, Studio is accidentaly setting the read wait states to 0 (NVMCTRL.CTRLB) after each break (bug number AVRSV-7486), which will cause all kind of troubles.

Until we push out a fix, please revert to , and stay on, 7.0.790.

Hi,

Will this definitely not result in this problem:

?

Thanks,

Ben.

Hmmmm, if you are bit by that bug, you could mix the atbackend directory from 790 with the rest from 943.

To do that, install 943, rename atbackend directory in "Program files....Atmel...7.0" to e.g. atbackend943, and copy the atbackend directory from 790 .

Here's a zip of the 790 atbackend :

OK, I've tried this and it lets me both build and step through the code. Thanks.

The problem that I now have is, that when I run the code (Atmel QT1 Xplained Pro Mutual Capacitance example with D20), the LEDs don't behave in the same way in debug that they do when free-running without the debug (i.e. free running - the LEDs respond, debug - nothing)

I have a similar problem with ATMEL Studio 7.0.1417 getting lost stepping through source code with my program.  It does not crash, but the source code sequence does not match what it should be doing.  It starts tracing OK at first, but them gets lost down in the code.  I have optimization set to no optimization.  The target is an ATXMega128A1U Xplained Pro.  Studio recognizes the board and seems to program memory.  Studio gets lost in simulation mode or PDI on EDBG mode.

I have optimization set to no optimization.

You will be told that this is very bad.

Me too!!!

I have moved from V6.2 to Atmel Studio V7.0.1417 and I'm getting crazy during Debugging with the new Studio (ATxmega256D3).

When using STEP OVER or STEP INTO, the Debugger jumps in the source code like there was no useful debug-information at all.

It jumps back and forth without any sense and without any relation to my source code lines....???

My optimization is O1. I also tried optimization NONE -> same bad result!

Same as Andy except my code will work without optimization.

I have a Win7 Pro SP1 without newest update.

So the latest working Atmel Studio is 7.0.790?

EDIT:

Even the Studio 6.2 didn't help. Must be my PC.

EDIT MORE:

And the fault was between the PC display and the seat. Impropriate port handling mess up the code when optimization was on.

Same here. ATMEL Studio 7.0.1417. It occures after porting the project from 6.2 to 7.0.

I'm hitting breakpoints in Reset_Handler (startup_samd20.c) and at start of main(). After that, it jumps around and breaks at some random code places.

Every second time I get an error while flashing. This also seems to be random:

I don't know whats going wrong here.

Same situation here with breakpoints, impossible to debug, step over hit anywhere randomly, breakpoints hit randomly or never.

I don't understand.. atmel studio version is now 7.0.1417 and bug still not corrected.

I am also working with xmega128a1u using avrdragon as tool.

Situation with debugger sepping anywhere randomly has been solved by removing all --relax found in project properties window.
