Hello,

I am trying to play with that sensor. It uses i2c or so called sccb bus.

I was able to use i2c in many other sensors like accel, gyro and everything worked fine for me.

But the I trying to read with i2c the ov7670 sensor, I dont get the id number.

Maybe somebody has figured out, what is the main difference between standart i2c and sccb bus?

and what frequency I should use? Standart i2c uses 400kHz I think.

SCCB specification is located here:

Thank you

Just to note that a search for "ov7670" hits 11 other threads beside this one. Maybe something in one of those?

What was the end conclusion?
Can I2C be used straight off an AVR to communicate with the OV7670?

Just to confirm for anyone reading this forum. I2C and SCCB are directly compatible. The difference's are you need pull-ups as with any I2C bus and the SCCB device won't NACK, only ACK. This doesn't cause any problems though.
