I'm evaluating Xmega for a new project and the A4 variants seem best suited for my needs. On Mouser and Digikey, however, these don't seem well-represented (the 128A4 isn't available, e.g.). Is Atmel phasing out these variants? I'll probably only need the 64A4, which is readily available, but I want to make sure I'm not painting myself into a corner. Thanks.

ATMega64A4 has not even been released yet, to my knowledge. If it were, I'd be on it in a New York minute. I am starting to wonder if it will EVER be released, much less the ATMega128A4.

The ATXMega32A4 is a fine chip- it has lots and lots of great features and peripherals for a mere $5.

Aaah, I misread Mouser's entry. They have 1440 on order (due in August), not in stock. I could've sworn Digikey said they had them in stock, now they've none and list it as discontinued (presumably they don't distinguish between that and backordered). Anyway, I won't actually need parts until the end of the year, so August is soon enough, and it sounds like if it hasn't shipped, then it's at the start of its lifecycle, not the end. I can probably even make do with the 32A4 if need be.

Like you, I'm blown away by the features $5 buys you. I just wish it ran on 5V. I'm gonna have to add some level-shifters to my design.
