I am a newbie to AVR--I just got a STK500 and I have what should be an easy question. What type of power supply are people using to power their boards? Thanks.

I'm using a very small switched power supply from Velleman Components, a Belgian company, but maybe also available elsewhere in the world. It's easy because they are small in size.

Hi!

The only specifications in the STK500 manual is a 10-15V DC power supply that can supply minimum 500mA. It doesn't matter wether the center connector is positive or negative; the input circuit is a full bridge rectifier.

This kind of power supply is very common. The Atmel distributors are sure to know about some. There's a list of distributors at http://www.atmel.com/atmel/contacts

Your local Radio Shack has suitable units. 10-15vdc @ 500ma. I am actually using a transformer from a discarded ATT phone. 9vdc @800ma and it works just fine.
