Does anybody have experience with this implementation of AVR and CAN?
It's an AT90S8515 and a Philips SJA1000 CAN Controller.

I am interessted in AVR and CAN Bus, too.
I would like to interface a AVR8515 and SJA1000 (or 82C200) CAN Controller.
Does anyone have the schematics of CANDIP-AVR or does anybody know if the schematics are included in the CANDIP package ?
We make the CANDIP's. There is no schematic availible on web, but a block diagram, which well explains how it works. We have starterkits availible that isn't that expensive with source code in both ICCAVR, CV & BASCOM.
I have purchased a Microchip can controller kit. This kit is nice but I need to know if there is anyone who has C callable code to set it up. I am not good with assembly and most of this is has to be set up from scratch. The kit is not expesive and has a pic running one can and the other is available for another processor. This kit will also hook into a live system if available.. This can controller hooks into the SPI and is not difficult to wire.
Can you tell me more about the Microchip CAN Controller kit ?
What is the correct product name ? (perhaps you have got a link to the website?)
Can you interface that controller with an AVR through the SPI interface ?
Where can I get the CANDIP infos + blockdiagram from ?

Digi-key sells the Microchip CAN-bus development kit. DV251001-ND is the part number. I am using the Atmel 90S8515 and the Microchip stand-along CAN-bus chip. Then I am using Philips TJA1050 to drive the physical bus. I am impressed with the MCP2510.
Don't miss undertake me, I'm not trying to promote PICs.
If you are looking for a very powerful text editor, I really like one called UltraEdit32. It has syntax highlighting. You can set it up to run you compiler though DOS command, or fire up Windows programs . I have Imagecrafts C compiler and compile code from within UltraEdit.
